Cold Sensitive Mutant At Biology Glossary

What is it? A mutation that results in a gene product that is active at a high temperature (e.g. 42C) but inactive at low temperatures (e.g. 30C). Cold sensitive mutations often affect hydrophobic interactions between protein complexes or between proteins and membrane componants.
