Transmembrane Receptor At Biology Glossary

What is it? A protein that spans the plasma membrane of a cell, with the extracellular domain of the protein having the ability to bind to a ligand and the intracellular domain having an activity (such as a protein kinase) that can be altered (either increased or decreased) upon ligand binding.
