What is it? A group of highly polymorphic genes whose products appear on the surface of cells imparting the property of self (belonging to that organism). A genetic region found in all mammals whose products are primarily responsible for the rapid rejection of tissue grafts between indiviuals, and function in signalling between lymphocytes and cells expressing antigen.Added By: Isaiah
